Unions: NYPD’s Mullins Charged

In the Schaitberger style

Mullins

“Damian Williams, the U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York, said Mr. Mullins “abused his position of trust and authority to fund a lavish lifestyle that was paid for by the monthly dues of the thousands of hard-working sergeants of the N.Y.P.D.” (The New York Times)

Change “sergeants of the N.Y.P.D” to firefighters and paramedics and you have our own former president Harold Schaitberger who lived off the IAFF dime for decades.

“Michael J. Driscoll, the head of the F.B.I.’s New York office, said the union was supposed to represent its members’ best interests. Mr. Mullins, he said, “went above and beyond to best serve his own interests.” (The New York Times)

Ditto Harold Schaitberger who “went above and beyond” on

  • high-end dining
  • fancy wines
  • first class airfare
  • chauffeured limousines
  • no-bid contracts for cronies
  • no-show/low-show consultant contracts for the favored
  • unsupported per diems
  • dodgy pensions
Schaitberger

The Times says that Mullins was also rung up on the improper release of an unredacted police report, eerily similar to Schaitberger’s shameful denial of due process to a former IAFF leader who was falsely charged with a crime.

Is it something in the wine these guys drink?

It will be interesting to see if any of Mullins’ union associates are caught up in the scandal.

At the IAFF, the criminally complicit vice presidents and trustees aided and abetted every aspect of Schaitberger’s marathon swindle.

And it continues — even in luxurious exile, Schaitberger has a ten-to-six board majority while he is also the subject of a Federal grand jury investigation.

(Not counting secretary treasurer Frank Lima, who green-lighted Schaitberger’s bogus pension by stomping on Vinny Bollon’s fresh grave.)

Vinny Bollon, 1934–2011

The Schaitberger Ten, S10 for short, are keeping the flame of union corruption burning brightly at the IAFF.
