Schaitberger: Reckless Politics
He Would Know About That.
When Harold Schaitberger wrote an email to his so-called executive board about the big, bad Wall Street Journal asking questions regarding his corrupt ways, he tried to lay it off on “reckless politics.”
This was an allusion to secretary-treasurer Ed Kelly’s revelations about longstanding IAFF financial mismanagement and Schaitberger’s ethical crimes.
Schaitberger’s “reckless politics” deserves to be deconstructed because he would know a thing or two about that subject.
It was reckless politics when Schaitberger betrayed one IAFF president and hounded another out of office in order to advance his personal prospects.
It was reckless politics when he connived and schemed to unseat vice-presidents who spoke up and fought back against his corruption.
It was also reckless politics when he awarded elected officers, staff and cronies “consultant contracts” to disappear.
Reckless politics? He has sold our safety and health to the highest bidder including manufacturers and sales people. In fact, the current chief advocate for our safety and health isn’t even an IAFF member. Her name is Diane Cotter and she now exhibits the zeal and tactics we once expected from the IAFF.
Reckless politics? How about extorting money from the Muscular Dystrophy Association, funds meant for sick and dying children.
Schaitberger is the grand wizard of reckless politics and his accusing Kelly of it is laugh-out-loud funny.
He has so over politicized the IAFF that no decision is made without politics, his, of course, in the forefront.
“Reckless politics” is just another Schaitberger dodge: he took the pension, he padded his pay and the fault lies at his doorstep, his sorry-ass excuses notwithstanding.
