The Schnader Report Dodge

The long finished but never released Schnader report reveals the widespread corruption inside the IAFF perpetrated by former president-for-life Harold Schaitberger and various other officers, including vice presidents, current and former.

The report was funded by all IAFF members and we have every right to see it. It is being held up because the board fears the truth.

Actually, the vice presidents are reported to be split on release with six voting for, ten against and Kelly and Lima for release, though Lima’s vote may be for show.

You should ask your district vice president, if they are in the “no” column what they are afraid of?

Besides the truth, of course.

The reason release of the full and unedited report is essential is because it is the baseline from which any progress or change must be evaluated.

All the talk of “reform” is just that, talk, until we know the details of the misconduct pervasive in our union.

The issue of eventual release is said to be on its way to convention meaning 1) the board is incapable of governing and are 2) kicking the can down the road while 3) forcing the delegates to solve the impasse.

IAFF leaders, including vice presidents, have historically made all the key decisions only coming to delegates for more money.

Since affiliate locals support their vice presidents in policy matters, it’s hard to see how a delegate vote at convention on the release of the report changes the math or the outcome.

But it does take the burden of truth and leadership off of the weak-kneed and cowardly board.

Speaking of leadership, Kelly should just release the report though he says he can’t.

Who, Me?

As a seasoned IAFF leader says,

Kelly’s claim that he needs board approval to release the Schnader report is laughable. He had no problem playing the “rat” when he spoon fed the Wall Street Journal during the campaign. Now that he’s won the big prize he wants to put the lid back on IAFF corruption.

That’s right, Kelly happily leaked inside info to get elected but now wants the “lid back on” but the putrid pot of IAFF corruption continues to boil.

New leaders but the dirty-dealing continues.
