A Trump Lover is a Putin Lover
Pass the Poison
Down in the White House neighborhood I have seen Trumpers wearing tee-shirts saying “I’d rather be Russian than a Democrat.”
And Russian they are as a Senate bipartisan committee confirmed this week the “extensive” contacts between the 2016 Trump campaign and Russians.
A vote for Trump was a vote for Putin, and so it will be in 2020.
It’s no surprise really, as Trump previously admitted that the Russians helped, he just said “I had nothing to do with it.”
He was, of course, lying.
Trump supporters have aligned themselves with Vladimir Putin, a murderous dictator who stops at nothing when it comes to retaining power and attacking his perceived enemies.
Of the latter, do the names Litvinenko and Skripal ring a bell?
If not I’ll help.
They are Russians who made it onto the Putin kill list; Litvinenko was poisoned with polonium-210 and Skripal and others with a nerve agent.
Litvinenko died an excruciatingly slow death from radiation sickness, Skripal and his daughter survived but a woman who later handled the poison container was killed.
Both poisonings occurred in public in England where many innocent people were exposed to these weapons of mass destruction.
To the list of the Putin-poisoned we can now likely add Alexei Navalny, a prominent Putin critic who was poisoned this week while traveling.
Trump is a “big fan” of Putin and has signaled that these attacks and killings fall within the bounds of state relations.
Trump supporters will likely yawn seeing Russians killing Russians through the same prism as they see blacks killing blacks or minorities dying in great numbers from Covid-19: not something to get stressed about.
That’s because to be a Trump lover you must first neutralize moral instinct and then banish it completely; you have chosen a man motivated by hate of others and to successfully align with him you must do the same.
The devil would congratulate you.
Speaking of the devil, I am no longer surprised at the thoroughness with which Evangelical Christians have abandoned (or traded in) fundamental church precepts as Trump gave them power, or at least the illusion of it.
It has to mean that their commitment to mercy and love was but a light cloak, Trump was their real sun and as he came out, the cloak came off.
The charge of dictator worship is entirely valid, Hitler would be thrilled in a country where the leader taunts the disabled, abandons the sick, lies with impunity and covets brute force.
This betrayal of democracy and moral values becomes ironically comic when Trumpers level charges at Biden such as alleged slowness or that he isn’t chartering an aircraft for campaigning amidst a pandemic.
There is no Biden-themed revelation from the past nor prediction for the future which would overshadow Trump’s unfitness for office or his supporters abandonment of American values.
